The Kwara State College of Education, Oro, in Irepodun Local Government Area, has resumed academic and administrative activities following a directive from the state government amid improved security conditions.
The reopening was announced in an internal memorandum dated February 2, 2026, signed by Deputy Registrar Mrs. Lawal Taibat Saka-Bolanta and communicated to staff and students. The memorandum was sighted by the Punch.
The state government had earlier declared that schools across Kwara would reopen from Monday after months of closure due to security threats, including banditry and kidnappings.
The decision followed sustained security operations that reportedly neutralised several criminal elements and restored relative calm in affected areas.
Authorities assured parents, students, and staff that security agencies would maintain a strong presence on campuses and in vulnerable communities.
The government also urged cooperation with security personnel to sustain safety measures and prevent a resurgence of criminal activities while academic activities resume.
