Arinola Fatimah Lawal, Honourable Member representing Ilorin East Local Government Area at the Kwara State House of Assembly, launched the Owo Isowo Cash Empowerment Programme aimed at boosting small-scale businesses and strengthening economic resilience within the constituency.
The initiative, which benefited hundreds of constituents, was designed to provide financial support to traders, artisans, farmers, and small business owners across Ilorin East.
The programme seeks to stimulate grassroots entrepreneurship and enhance household income amid prevailing economic challenges.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Lawal expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON), for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to people-centered development across the state.
She noted that the Governor’s policies and developmental strides continue to inspire impactful interventions at the constituency level.
According to the lawmaker, Owo Isowo is not merely a cash disbursement exercise but a strategic empowerment initiative designed to restore dignity, create sustainable opportunities, and encourage financial independence among beneficiaries.
“Economic empowerment remains one of the most effective tools for sustainable development. When individuals are empowered, households are strengthened, and the entire community benefits,” she stated.
Beneficiaries received financial grants to either establish or expand ventures in areas such as petty trading, tailoring, food processing, and small-scale agriculture.
Hon. Lawal urged recipients to utilize the support judiciously, describing it as seed capital intended to grow into sustainable sources of livelihood.
She reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to advocating programmes and policies that promote economic growth, social inclusion, and overall development within Ilorin East.
The event drew community leaders, stakeholders, and constituents who commended the initiative as timely before the start of Ramada and Lenten season.
