Video: CP orders probe into alleged police extortion in Kwara

The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, CP Adekimi Ojo, has ordered an immediate and thorough investigation into a viral video alleging that some police officers were involved in an act of extortion along the Osi-Eruku road in Ekiti Local Government Area of the state

The directive follows the circulation of the footage on social media, which shows residents accusing officers on duty of the unprofessional conduct.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the Command assured members of the public that any officer found guilty after investigation would face appropriate disciplinary action.

“‎The Kwara State Police Command is aware of a video footage circulating on social media alleging that police officers on duty were involved in an act of extortion along Osi-Eruku road in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.”

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo psc, mnips, has ordered an immediate and thorough investigation into the incident,” the statement read.

SP Ejire-Adeyemi reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to professionalism, integrity, and accountability in its operations, assuring the public that the outcome of the investigation would be made known in due course.
