Kwara State has achieved another major milestone in fiscal governance, ranking as the third best-performing state in Nigeria in the 2025 State of States Fiscal Performance Ranking released by BudgIT, a leading civic-tech organization known for its independent assessment of subnational fiscal sustainability.
The latest ranking highlights Kwara’s steady rise in fiscal responsibility, moving from 10th position in 2023 to 4th in 2024, and now 3rd in 2025 — a reflection of the state’s consistent progress in transparency, accountability, and prudent financial management.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Hauwa Nuru, said the recognition is “a testament to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s unwavering commitment to fiscal discipline, data-driven planning, and accountability.”
She noted that the administration remains focused on deepening reforms that strengthen public finance systems, enhance revenue efficiency, and ensure value for money in public spending.
In a statement issued by Babatunde Toyin Abdulrasheed, Press Secretary, Ministry of Finance, the Commissioner reaffirmed the government’s commitment to positioning Kwara State as a model of sustainable governance, dedicated to fostering a resilient and inclusive economy through transparent and responsible management of public resources.
